Multiple skateboarding music festivals are scheduled across the United States in 2024, combining skate competitions with live music performances. These events are attracting large crowds and media attention, highlighting a rising trend that merges skate culture with musical entertainment.
The inaugural major event of this trend was announced for summer in Los Angeles, featuring professional skateboarding contests alongside performances by well-known bands and DJs, according to event organizers. Additional festivals are planned in cities including New York, Chicago, and Miami, with details still being being finalized.
Organizers describe these festivals as platforms to celebrate skateboarding as a cultural movement and to provide a new experience for fans of both skate and music scenes. The events are expected to include skate demos, competitions, workshops, and a lineup of live music acts spanning genres such as punk, hip-hop, and electronic dance music.

Rise of Fusion Events in Skate and Music Cultures
Over the past few years, skateboarding has evolved from a niche sport into a mainstream cultural phenomenon, with major brands and events gaining visibility. Simultaneously, music festivals have become a staple for youth engagement. The combination of these elements into single events reflects a broader trend of lifestyle fusion, driven by social media and youth preferences.
While smaller skate-music mashups have existed, 2024 marks a concerted effort by organizers to create large-scale, recurring festivals dedicated to this hybrid experience, signaling a new chapter for skate culture and live music integration.
“We see this as a natural evolution of skate culture—bringing music and skateboarding together creates an immersive experience that resonates with today’s youth.”
— Jane Doe, Festival Organizer
